Hi, I am a part of IPM Indore 2019 - 24 Batch and I prepared for DU - JAT simultaneously too.
Both of these programs are reputed and leaders in their league, and hence their exams also maintain the same standards.
IPM has round for selections,
1) IPMAT
2) WAT + Interview
The exam consists of Quants + Verbal Ability. It should be prepared for, Verbal Ability for all stream students and Quants specially for Commerce and Arts students because a scale higher than traditional CBSE courses, although the questions are aligned with the topics that have been taught.
2) Solve previous year papers to get an idea about how far you need to go, and learn and practice similar questions to ensure accuracy and speed while solving questions.
3)Give Online Mock tests which have the required sectional time limits for Quantitative Abilility MCQ, Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) and Verbal Ability.
This helps in understanding how much time each section demands from you, your strengths, and what kind of calculated risk you can afford to take with questions having negative marking.
Keep in mind that there is sectional cut off followed by overall cut off, so you have to perform decently in all sections to make the cut-offs.
4) Read News Daily. Even Headlines also work. Cram the full names of all high-ranking position holders of Legislature, Executive and Judiciary, ranging from Cabinet ministers, to NITI Aayog, to Chief Justice of India.
Also, keep knowledge of your locally elected leaders, the constituency you fall in, and other geogrophical/demographic aspects.
Expect questions from Current Affairs.
The GK questions are for the Interview, which has 3 main components:
1) in-depth knowledge and understanding in any academic subject of your choice
2) General Knowledge and Current Affairs
3) Personality Questions.
WAT is the Writing Ability Test.
Can be prepared for by randomly writing on topics comprising of social issues and requiring expression of opinion. Practice basic essay writing.
